An African wooden spoon & fork salad set sent from Uganda sparked the interest of Joy Dull and Julie Wilson. After seeing photos of children without shoes taken by friends who had been there, they decided to start a non-profit organization with the goal of sending shoes to the children of Uganda. |

Eventually traveling to Uganda, Joy, Julie and Dr. Barbara Gibby saw first hand that shoes were only one of these children’s needs. In village schools they found children with stomachs bloated from worms or malnutrition, bare feet infected from scrapes and chiggers, and “drinking water” that was not fit to bathe in. |

Partnering with Moses Mbuga, the director of Gospel Messengers Church and a man with a heart dedicated to helping the orphans of his country, on their second trip to Uganda in 2005 Bless the Children was able to provide the first water well in the village of Lugazi, Uganda. |

Returning again to Uganda in September/October of 2006, Joy, Barbara & Connie Thornberry were there for the drilling of the second water well at the village school in Kitongo. They were also able to return to Lugzai and see the positive health benefits that had been brought to the area with their access to clean water. |
